I love Locke! I have the second book in hardcover, actually, because I got into them right when the second one came out. I'm still waiting for the 3rd, which was supposed to come out in February, but is now indefinitely delayed.
Is it really such a bad thing that tenant is moving out? I mean, in the short term, no money coming in, but in the long term, the tenant is gone and the apartment, once fumigated, may be made available for rent by people you actually like!
In the books world, I recently read the Parasol Protectorate books by Gail Carriger. Not the highest quality literature ever, but Victorian Steampunk Fantasy and the main character has a custom parasol designed for doing battle with the supernatural!

Huge fan of Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan series. If you haven't read much of it, the Cryoburn CD is definitely the way to go (you get it ALL... with additional notes, speeches, etc.)
Tamora Pierce. I know you've read some of her stuff, but have you read the Circle of Magic or The Circle Opens? Good stuff, set in a different universe from the Tortall stuff.
Did you buy "Spec-tacular" that Dan Robichaud was published in? I enjoyed it quite a bit.
If you want some dead-tree stuff, I have a bunch of books I got for free at Lunacon...
Ooh, ooh! It's probably not on Kindle (checks.. nope), but "Anita" by Keith Roberts is good. A whole bunch of short stories about a young "modern" witch, circa 1970. I have the hardcover if you want to borrow it.

Have you read the Vorkosigan series yet? Because almost the entire thing is available for free in .mobi format via the Cryoburn CD.

It starts with The Lies of Locke Lamora. The 2nd book is Red Seas Under Red Skies, which I haven't finished yet.
