A (Happy!) Story From My Youth

Feb 28, 2011 06:12

On the one hand, parts of my childhood were bright halcyon days of love and joy and friendship and family. On the other, many parts of my childhood were dark and upsetting, with more than a little ( Read more... )

DUDE! I wanted a keeper sooooooooooooooooooooooo hard when I was little. My mom wouldn't buy me one. Yet, my sister got that stupid Whitney Houston tape. The one where she was on the cover in the pinkish toga/dress with the extremely closely shorn head. This made me briefly hate both of them.

I'm pretty sure there's always an arrest warrants part when Nuance is around. She's trouble.

It was Nickerson. There were always warrants.

Basically, Nickerson and some of the others (none of whom I can remember) blew through a stop sign at Rocky Neck. The park rangers ran the plates on the vehicle, and I think the registration was suspended, so they ran a search on the owner and there were warrants everywhere.

I remember smugly telling Damian, "My Daddy isn't being arrested" while they raided our campsite and Cathy hid in the women's bathroom. I forget how they found her, too.

And then mom got a phone call and learned I was kicked out of the park with a man while my party had been arrested and assumed I'd just walked off with some stranger that had promised me candy.

Duh, mom, I'm not stupid. I would have wanted books, too.
