Hunger Games and Zombies

So, touchthesoul linked to this blog on Facebook, where the author is reading the Hunger Games trilogy for the first time, completely blind. And his very first chapter review reminded me of something I'd thought of when I first read the trilogy and had forgotten, caught up with everything else.

Interesting.

It's been about 6 years since I graduated from undergrad. There was a great paper I read on reading education and gender identity.

Most young females in this study did not assume gender identity when reading whereas most males in the same study assumed that the character was a male without having any context markers. If I can find my old paper the study is really worth reading.

I've read Mark's reviews of all seven Harry Potter books, and for the most part they were a hoot. He loved them a ton, and managed to find huge great subtext in them that I usually read too fast and buzz by, so it was awesome fun to re-read them, sort of, through his eyes.

I'm glad he's starting another one he's liking-- I couldn't get through his Twilight reviews because he was sooooo miserable.
