Life-lesson learned.

So, everyone who told me that bathing the kittens when they were wee would acclimate them to being bathed as adults?

LIED.

Islay is bathed and I am injured. Still, I think I won, as Islay is more bathed than I am injured.

I will not be trying the same thing with the Captain, as I'm pretty sure I will end up injured without him getting bathed. ( Read more... )

Hrm, as a person who knows a cat this worked on, and who is probably one of the guilty parties for mentioning it, I will keep further endorsements of kitten bathing restrained to "some kittens".

Hope your scratches heal.

In your defense, Islay believes she's a puppy. To the tune of chasing her tail, digging in her water dish, and playing fetch. Honest-to-god, playing fetch.

I got a great kid's book at the book fair at school last year. It's called "Bad Kitty Gets a Bath." If the student who borrowed it has returned it I'll try to bring it next time I see you. It's hilarious.

Maybe you need one of these:

Good for at least one wash cycle before the cat get wise. I'd advise a remote door opening mechanism so you can be out of the house when the cat is clean and dry.

Well, perhaps the 'acclimation' is less of the cat cold shoulder post-bath. 'Learned helplessness' also comes to mind. I'm a firm believer that bathing cats is ALWAYS a two person job. That and cats feel it necessary to 'show the flag' and draw blood as the cost for being immersed.

*hugs* Hope your scratches heal quickly. :) Have fun at Scion this week? :D

try a laundry bag. Insert cat into bag, head sticking out through drawstring, squirt kitty shampoo into bag, insert kitty and bag into tub or sink and wash kitty through bag.
