I think the way you are with books is how I am with music. I have a compulsive need to know all things (good) rock, and all the various genres therein. And it spirals when you further compartmentalize, and study the history of, influences of, etc. Something about it is... comforting. And I'm realizing that everyone has their "thing" that they need to understand and compartmentalize.
