And by 'the king,' I actually mean 'me.' I now have a new digital voice recorder, for all those times I'm doing other stuff to sit down and write, but I'm thinking of things that ought to get written down. That sounds like a fun little device... Sounds like it would be helpful with anything one needs to remember... and I should know, I'm constantly forgetting things as soon as the thought is planted..

I'm sure I'm dating myself here, but need to call it Diane, as in-
Diane, last night I dreamed I was eating a large, tasteless gumdrop, and awoke to discover I was chewing on one of my foam disposable earplugs. Perhaps I should consider moderating my nighttime coffee consumption.

$40 at Staples. All digital voice recorders start at $40 (except for the $10 keychain ones that record like 20 seconds), so you just need to make sure you get a decent one.

She got a Sony, which the internet seemed to like.

Of course, if you want to pay a couple dollars more, you can get USB functionality so you can upload the recordings to your computer (for example).
