I loved that movie so much, and I can't get it out of my head, either! I'm usually not into vampires at all but God, I really identified with the vampire girl, heh, in a weird way? We just watched it a few weeks ago and it gave me such a craving for more meaningful, heartfelt "horror" movies.

I know exactly what you mean. I'm definitely not that into vampires (I always thought they were a tad boring)but that sort of changed that for me. I think it's because the story was just so human, if that makes any sense. It wasn't just 'oh, im a vampire, these are the things vampires angst about, sunlight, blood, i'm immortal, woe is me.' In fact, the whole vampire thing seemed like another detail and not the only thing the story had going for it. If that makes any sense. xD I don't know, time has passed and I still can't really explain why that movie had such a lasting effect on me.
Oh god, I remember seeing that preview and being so depressed that I'd never see it because - hey - Swedish vampire films? Not widely distributed. But I did get to see it, and it was awesome, and I wish to god that Stephenie Meyer's hormonal adolescent atrocities would be stricken from the universe and replaced with 80s-themed subtitled cat-crazy castrati-flashing atmospheric foreign vampire films about children in pure and tragic love.
very astute description of LTROI - should go on back of box, I feelshadowpoet89November 3 2009, 20:52:57 UTC
What made watching the movie even better was that it followed an impassioned rant about Twilight (and the current vampire craze sweeping the nation) given by my professor. :D We had to watch the dub though and the discrepancies between what was being read and what was being said made for an interesting movie-watching experience, to say the least (and plenty of giggling at inappropriate times). I'll have to watch the subtitled version one of these days.
