Eeks! ..You know, you should probably get it x-rayed just to make sure it's not fractured/broken. Especially if it crunched like that. I've fractured broken 4 bones in my life and right afterwards the body goes into a shock of sorts... You get all pale and clammy and dizzy for a bit until your body calms down. So maybe it wasn't a panic attack - maybe it really is broken.
I'm not trying to freak you out more but if it *is* broken you really need to know so you can start getting it fixed so I really recommend getting an x-ray just in case.
In any case, it sounds horrible and I hope you feel better soon!
And definitely rest it up as much as possible. Sprains can be a major bitch. I thought I sprained mine last year pretty minorly and it's still giving me shit.
