Title: 10 Future Incidents Spock Prime Warned the Crew About and 1 He Kept to Himself Author: ShadowLoverK Fandom: Star Trek XI and TOS Summary: Exactly what the title says
Thanks. I wasn't too happy with how I ended up writing it (the format) but couldn't really come up with anything better. I'm really glad you liked it. I tried to pick events that the reboot wouldn't change too much.
Thanks! I had a really hard time deciding what the one event he kept to himself would be. I finally decided on Sybok because he's really more of a family embarrassment than anything else. But with his powers, you can't really lock the guy up, if he took any starship besides the Enterprise (or heck, even the Enterprise in this new AU) there's no guarantee that they could stop him. It's that whole needs of the many thing. Plus, I figure there's some residual resentment there. Long story short, I wasn't entirely happy with how I ended it, but I couldn't really come up with a better way either.
♥♥♥ @ #7 & 5! Every time I read the "Spock Prime mustn't interfere with the course of this timeline," I can't help but think of these incident, cases where interference couldn't possibly make things any worse than the TOS solution
I think most of the people saying he can't interfere in the timeline are all older Trekkies like me who grew up with the unbreakable idea that in Star Trek there is one timeline and if changed, it must be corrected. I think every single season of every single show has had at least one time travel problem (whether the crew actually does the traveling or someone else) that needs to be "corrected." That's always how it's been presented. Even the animated series and the movies did it. While pretty much all of us loved this new movie, it introduced a new concept to the Trek universe (not new to sci-fi fans or science majors of course), just new to Trek). Before, the concept of alternate or mirror universes worked on the principle that all these realities were similar but ultimately unconnected. Now, we have one timeline actually spawning another. Very big concept to suddenly get your head around. I asked myself 1. why can't Spock Prime interfere since he's obviously not affecting his own future any more and 2. how would certain
