As sad as I'd be that you two were out of the states, YOU SHOULD TOTALLY DO IT! It would be an awesome experience, you'd very likely be fluent by the time you were done, and you'd get a masters too.

Also, well, you'd have a lot of insider/outsider experience with Japanese culture. That's something a lot of writers don't have.

So yes--definitely apply! ^_^
