Y'all know I'm not one to be all like, "Well, according to So-and-so, [insert arbitrary rule of life]", especially when it comes to matters of style. I seek advice, I take tips to heart, but mostly I trust my instincts and take my cues from the unbearably fabulous. No white after Labor Day? No mixing shades? No heels with shorts? Pshaw! I reject

I should care less about arbitrary fashion rules like white after Labor Day! I will attempt to do so! But black and brown, even with Doc Hammer's permission, I don't know, dude. That's tough.

The black/brown thing, I think, is one of those things that works when it's done right. For me, though, it's like my instincts tell me it looks good, but I have this internalized resistance to putting those colors together.
Having Doc's permission is kind of like having a friend say, "Yes, you can totally eat that bowl of ice cream you want so bad". It validates what I already know is a good decision.
To be fair, though, I feel like Doc's very existence validates many of my style choices.
