If the world were to be thrown backwards in time to the prehistoric age, I doubt that as a species humans would live for that long and maybe even perhaps die out completely. As a whole, we are to consumed by our own human laziness and technological modernizations. Are we to dependant on the things that make our lives comfortable and enjoyable? ( Read more... )

Prehistoric. That word has never made sense to me. There has never been a time in history that could be PRE-history. It's a linguistical impossibility.

As I understand it is the era of time that is unrecorded by humans historians...eg the age of the dinosaurs where there is no actual proof of what happened in that time because we never existed to prove anything other than what we've found remaining in the present time.

Oh yes, I understand that. (unfortunately, one of my majors was evolutionary biology). I just never really liked the term... because proven or not, there is no time before time. =)

I'm not sure that that is the intentional meaning of the word, but an interesting subject to explore.

I don't think it was intended to define a before time, merely the time that existed before humans began to keep historical records our own history.
