Hoping for Some Confirmation or Clues With a Possible UPG

I had a very startling inner world experience the other night which may have been a past life memory or something built on a resonance, and I wanted to find out if any of what I experienced is corroborated by any lore that my friends may know or any personal gnosis. It may also have been simply a potent experience that has no specific connection to ( Read more... )

just my two pence.. but well there was cross cultural influences between the two groups. Just from my own experience.. I know that there are roads that cross back and forth between northern practice and the Isles. I'm just starting to study the mixture.. we can discuss this a bit later. it's hard to put into words.

There are strong connections between many of the Celtic deities and the Germanic Vanir, so you might have experienced that. Catubodua comes to mind as the closest link.

Cathubodua would have been my first guess as well...Definitiely Gaulish, and there was a lot of direct contact between the Gauls and the Germanic peoples, particularly in the times when the Cathubodua altar was dedicated.

Then, of course that leads to the Irish cognate, Bodb Catha, which leads thence to An Morrígan, but anyway...

So this is the point where I mention that several months ago during a conversation with a follower of the Morrigan, Babh shoved her aside so she could talk with me directly. No explanation and no specific message to give, just. . . general insights on my situation at the time.

I confess I had forgotten the incident until I shared this dream with that friend and she reminded me that Babh had been very insistent on speaking with me. . .

There is a large degree of uncertainty--within the texts themselves--as to whether or not Badb and An Morrígan are separate beings, if the former is one of a collective known as the latter, or what...Various local traditions might differ on the possible answer to this question, and this is very likely reflected in the texts as they have come down to us. An Morrígan does sometimes turn into a raven or scald crow; and yet, in the most famous shape-shifting incident in which she is involved, she becomes a red heifer, a glas she-wolf, and an eel, with no avian forms whatsoever taking part. Badb Catha, however, is never anything but a crow/raven, it seems...

So, yes, this all makes a great deal of sense.

I was going to discuss the components of the Goddess we call "the Morrigan", but you already have a discussion of Babh, which is where I was headed.
"Battle Crow" gets me to Babh who I see as "part of" Morrigan..

I'm not sure, but if it was Northern and battle... the Valkyries?

Hmmm. . . Hadn't thought about that.

I never thought about what kind of energy a Valkyrie would have. . .

That doesn't feel right, but it's certainly worth some reflection.

Thanks.
