So, uh, I just had to explain to my boyfriend (and keep in mind that this was set off by my library receipt, so he didn't see the cover) that Bone and Jewel Creatures was fiction, not an instruction manual for making sculpture with skeletons. I've done some sketches, actually, and will probably post them sooner or later once I'm happy with them.

But OMG, if I got some more sculpey and old jewelry I could probably make one. Getting it to stand would be tricky but I bet I could at least manage the right effect...

wire armature! Doesn't have to be posable. Although it sure wouldn't suck if it were!

I think I'd have to sculpt the pieces first and then attach them to any armature for it to look good. The problem is finding wire that's flexible enough to easily bend, but will support the weight. I don't have a soldering gun, which limits things.

Typically I'll start with a tin foil and/or wire structure which I sculpt around, but that would be too bulky to do convincing joints.
