I have run into a slight problem. The story is finished. Done, nothing more to say. Great right? Well, except that I still need 17,000 words to reach 50,000.

Time to do some novel padding.

Oof. My main character really want to make me do something similar. She was charging ahead and ready to be done with the story in the first week.

Using Chris Baty's suggestion of having your characters sing "American Pie" probably wouldn't work for your story, would it?

No that probably wouldn't work for my characters. Though it might make for an interesting tribute since I did wipe out all human life in North America.
