I got rather upset tonight, more upset than I have been in quite awhile. I think I'm through the bulk of it now but we'll have to see. It did leave me very isolated though, I needed to talk to someone (almost anyone really) about it and there wasn't a way of reaching people. This is a drawback of moving away ( Read more... )

I appreciate the offer. I suppose part of the problem is not being sufficiently connected because 90% of the time I don't want to be. I would have to download an MSN client thingie, though that certainly wouldn't be hard.

The offer however, is what is most valuable, thank you.

Hey! Give me a ring when you get up if you like. I will try to get skype up and running later as well.

(though, if you use Mobivox, you might also be able to reach me for free...)

Well my older machine doesn't seem comfortable with the newer versions of Skype that allow me to call landlines, so until I get my other computer back I can't use that to call you easily either.

I haven't looked into Mobivox, perhaps I should.

All the same tomorrow is the beginning of a busy week, perhaps I'll focus on all the work I should be doing instead. (Now if I could just get my bike working well enough to ride some of the rage out...)

Thank you for the offer. It helps

Bleh. I just had a look at Mobivox, and it looks like their only local access number for Japan is in Tokyo.

That doesn't mean that you won't be able to use it...

Normally, the way that it works is that you call the local access number, and then use Vox Girl to help you connect to people in your address book ( ... )

Hum, I just tested that out, and it would seem that Mobivox will connect to the account holder on their Skype account. This could be so that they don't compete directly with Skype-Out (since, I am assuming that they need some sort of partnership with Skype to get this type of access to their network).

This of course, is assuming that you would be paying long distance rates to call Tokyo. I don't know how the mobile-landline system works in Japan...

That being said, it is still a nice cheap way for people here to call you using a regular telephone (free to call you on your skype account from a landline).

Whether you feel upset or not, remember I'm relatively closeby (I think the time difference was about 1 1/2 - 2hrs?) and other than Gmail and MSN, I/we am/are more than happy to ring you, even if it's just to catch up and say g'day. You have the added choice of feedback ranging from "empathetic goofy Canadian female" to "straight-talking, wisecracking Australian male". All you need to do is email your phone number and your preferred time/day to receive said phone call.

In other news, I'd been slack over the holidays but have finally gotten around to posting you your holiday care package. I hope you enjoy it!

It looks like you already have a few offers of people to talk to, including one almost in your TZ, but I'm throwing my hat in the ring anyway. Sometimes I'm not on GTalk but you can nearly always reach me instantly via email if I'm awake (i.e. anytime between midnight and late afternoon on your time).
