Moving On

After almost two years (whoa!) on LiveJournal, I've decided to switch to a MovableType blog. I have weird feelings about pulling away from the fantastic LJ community, but the more time I spend with MT at work, the more I find myself wanting to take advantage of its features and etc. The fact that I was able to find a script to convert LJ XML ( Read more... )

Are there no tools that allow simultaneous posting to LJ and MT? Then, of course, you have to follow comments in 2 places....

If you are even interested, Scot, maybe you can get your LJ hooked up to your new journal via LJ's RSS syndication doohickey (like this..

Wow. That's very cool, and looks like it should be easy enough. Where do I sign up?

You will be missed... I don't bother with any of this blog shit, so I honestly don't think I will be reading your new journal much.... I don't have any interest in bothering with "aggregators" or whatever the hell they are. :)

Smell you later.. :)

To show how much I like you, scot, I even installed AmphetaDesk just now... I can't imagine using it, though, as it seems like a really, really shitty tool.. I mean, it doesn't really aggregate anything... It just gives you a little blurb and then you still have to visit another page...

I think I will stick to checking your birdhouse.org page when I can remember to...

NetNewsWire sucks considerably less, although it's Mac OS X only. I'm still not sure I'll be using it, though.

I think RSS/RDF is pretty cool but so far it's not sufficiently "integrated" to make me happy. It does make me wonder if someone could write something like AmphetaDesk/NetNewswire that runs as a sidebar panel in Mozilla, though--that would suck considerably less. Even so, I think of LJ's "Friends" page as a real aggregator for weblogs in a way that current RSS/RDF doesn't (easily) allow.
