Well, sometimes I just don't get it.

If they have lost interest in Atlantis, they should create an end with stlyle and not completely ruin the show by writing stories that "fans will love". Ahem.

SG1 wasn't cancelled for no reason. *facepalm*

At least there's fanfics in which everything's still alright.

And I am curious for the results. *veg*

The only reason I'm reserving judgment on the cast changes and how I'll feel about it is because I've managed to keep myself mainly spoiler-free (a major accomplishment with LJ...), and therefore don't know exactly what they ARE. One I DO know annoys me immensely, as that character is my least favourite part of a certain other show. (how's that for attempting to be vague?)

I'm with you on reserving judgment and spoiler-free (for which i give you HUGE props. I still have issues). I saw the one with the vague avoidance. And I'll just say that for the fans to love that character as that character and not as anyone else, the writers are gonna have to work hard.

I only know of one change so I'm willing to reserve judgement. and trying to be optimistic that mixing it up a little will be better.

Hate to be crass, but Skiffy's scheduling arrangements don't really bother me. The only thing that I worry about is it might affect the ability for the show to keep running. Other than that, I don't really care. At the end of the day, if the show wants to keep running in its more lucrative markets - ie. Europe - the production company and Skiffy would do well not to meddle with our schedules, even if that means first view switches to Europe. Skiffy are making this problem for themselves and their viewership - the rest of the world shouldn't have to suffer because of that.

As to cast changes, I'm holding judgement on that, though I'm afraid I really don't hold out much hope for it. And I forsee more of the same on the horizon for S5 should the show get renewed again after S4.

Skiffy's rationale is to maximize viewership during sweeps while minimizing loss due to real(tm) life (i.e. holidays, sporting events, etc.). By breaking up the season they can try to have new episodes airing during all 4 sweeps while still only having to order 20 episodes per season.

November sweeps : 1st week of Nov. thru 4th week of Nov.
February sweeps : 1st week of Feb. thru 4th week of Feb.
May sweeps : last week of April thru 3rd week of May
July sweeps : 2nd week of July thru 1st week of August

At first I was all OMG! SciFi is so stupid, but then I remembered about the late US start of the second half of S3, and realized that the fall schedule is probably better than a July opener with a long ass six month's wait like we've had between S3's halves.

As for the cast changes, I'm not bothered unless a certain character on the show is made the butt of too many jokes because of the inclusion of a certain other character. Then? I would be pissed to the extreme.

Sorta needed a poll that said 'i'm going to continue watching season 4 because I like Shep and McKay, but still detest what TPTB are doing to the other characters.' ;)

heh, I'm so with you on that.

Though, if they get it to work really well some how, I wont be so annoyed (maybe it's cause I'm a Farscape fan - who constantly changed their cast and made it work, or maybe I'm just being an optimist in regards to this). Still hate how they're going about it, and Joe M's callous disregard for the fans.

But yeah, so long as Sheppard and McKay are there, heck, so long as McKay is there, I'm there.
