Carson sighed, as he slipped into the room after his lecture, mentally keeping the lights somewhat dim. It was easier, somehow, without the glare. He checked the status log, not expecting to see anything unusual, which he didn't. He still checked every day, after getting the enzyme from their wraith prisoner. He turned and stepped to the pod and wiped the frost from the glass. She looked peaceful. It was easy to forget the frenzy she had been in, how he'd shot her in trying to protect Rodney, how close Rodney had come...
He felt the pressure change more than he heard the door open and turned. Teyla stood in the doorway. He nodded to her and turned back. "Do ye ever feel her presence?" he asked.
"Sometimes," she answered. "It is very cold and distant. Not like his."
He sighed. "I'm sorry ye have to suffer so."
He could feel her reassuring smile, even without looking. "It is for Aiden. I am willing to suffer for a short time so that he can be whole."
"I don't know that he ever will be," he answered. "I think he was on it too long, in too high a dosage."
"You have gone from four doses a day down to three. That is quite an accomplishment."
"And look at how long that's taken. You'll be mad by the time we've weaned him completely and I don't know what to do about it."
"I am adjusting," she answered. "It is this one wraith. I do not know why, but his presence has been particularly disturbing."
"Perhaps when he... when we're done with him, the next won't be as bad," Carson said.
"Perhaps," she answered.

"What is it, John?" Rodney asked, seeing the look in his eye.
"I just... Sometimes I feel like I just fell down the rabbit hole or something. I mean, Kavanagh going off-world, Carson being all... creepy, Ford addicted to the enzyme, and you nearly dying and not even telling me about it. God, Rodney, I just feel so... I don't even have a word for it."
Without thinking, Rodney reached for him, laying a comforting hand on John's shoulder. He felt the shudder and jerked his hand back. "Sorry," he muttered. "Here. I don't know if it'll help, but what if I give you the Team Lorne mission reports? That would at least catch you up some. Maybe then things would make a little more sense."
"Yeah. Okay. That might work."
"So... anyhow, it's off to work now. How close are you and Zelenka to being done with that jumper?"
"It's taking awhile. Some of the crystals are an odd size and the database on the engine pods doesn't quite match up with what we're seeing."
"Maybe it's an older model," Rodney said teasingly.
"Actually, we're beginning to think that might be the case. I'd love to take some of the other jumpers' engine pods apart and compare, but I don't think we can spare them."
"Mmh. Maybe after you get this one fixed. Meet you for lunch?"
John nodded. "Sure thing. What--"
Rodney held up a hand, and then tapped his headset. "McKay here." He listened, frowning. "Okay... yes, I'll be right there." He clicked off and headed for the door. "Got to go. Noon work for you?"
"Sure," John answered his retreating back.

"I swear, I'm missing a part," John said.
"This is equivalent to the diagram in database," Zelenka said.
"I know it is, but it doesn't feel right. Something's missing."
Zelenka sighed. "Okay. Let's go through it again."

Kavanagh landed on his back hard, the air rushing out of him. He lay, trying to remember how to breathe, and then blinked up at the man towering over him.
"You okay?" Ronon asked.
"Just let me get my breath."
"In a real fight, your opponent won't give you that chance."
"Then why are you?" Kavanagh asked.
Ronon shrugged. "You're distracted. I wanted to ask why."
"I'm not distracted."
Ronon sat down on the mat, studying him. "You fight better with Everett."
Kavanagh looked away.
Ronon grunted. "I think we're done for the day."
"But, we're not even halfway through the session."
"You're too distracted."
Kavanagh sighed. "It's not you."
"It's not?"
"Okay. Maybe it is. Can I... Can I ask you a question?"
"Sure," Ronon answered, shrugging.
"Sheppard and McKay-- what do you think of them?"
Ronon's eyebrows rose. "In what way?"
"Their relationship. Their marriage. On Sateda, how would people react to that?"
Ronon considered him, a hint of confusion on his eyes. "Their relationship is unusual, but sometimes men who have done their duty to the future do enter into such things on Sateda. Or did."
"Their duty to the future?"
Ronon nodded. "Fathered children."
"Oh."
"Why did you want to know?"
Kavanagh shrugged. "I was just curious."

Rodney stretched and glanced at his watch. He really should be getting to bed soon. He stood and padded toward the bathroom.
He stopped outside John's "office" door as he heard the moan, images of John's restless nights flashing through his mind. The futon creaked and there was the susurration of a body on cloth. He didn't know how he would explain it, but Rodney knew he couldn't let John suffer through alone.
He opened the door and froze at the sight within.
John lay naked, sprawled across his sheets, one hand slowly circling a nipple while the other wrapped tightly around his hard cock.
Rodney found himself going rock hard in an instant, a small sound escaping his throat.
John tensed, pleasure-hazed eyes opening and meeting Rodney's, widening.
"Sorry," Rodney whispered and turned and fled.
