Yeah, I was thinking back to the dark ages when the hubby and I were first married and those mornings where I'd wake up and just be boggled that I was actually married. The OMG factor has pretty much worn off the marriage, but I still do that sometimes with the kids-- be sitting there and suddenly think, "This is my kid. This is my kid. Half the genes there are mine. I gave birth to this independent human being." This seems especially common with the 7-year-old, who is all bones and nerves and motion, on those rare occasions where he actually climbs into my lap and gives me one of those just 'cause hugs and the solidity of him just blows me away.

So, write what you know and all.
