I'm not entirely sure if there will be another round next year (it's likely, but it will depend on the level of interest, time, and scheduling, etc), but if there will be another round, I'm always looking for ways to improve the community ( Read more... )

for a community called SGA reverse bang I thought there were far to many pieces of art containing NON Atlantis characters

I'm sorry that you feel that way anon.

By non-Atlantis characters, do you mean only characters who have not appeared on SGA, or do you include OCs as well?

Unfortunately, for the past two rounds, this challenge has conflicted with my participation in other Big Bangs. I would be very much interested in participating and hope that things work out to where another round would be possible. I think mashimero and all the mods have done a phenomenal job and I look forward to making my way through all of this round's entries.

I was very sorry to hear that you couldn't participate (mashimero speaking).

In terms of schedule, I didn't realize that posting would coincide with my midterms, so I think if I do another round next year, I would like to shift the dates a little bit, but I think it will stick to roughly the same timeframe.

Are you referring to just hewliganbigbang or are there others as well? It would be nice to hold the sgareversebang at a time when there are fewer/no SGA-related challenges going on, to maximize participation. Of course, there will always be things going on in other fandoms as well that I can't account for.

I really like the sga_reversebang and I think it works well. It's great to get so much art and so much good-sized fic, it's been a real feast and I'm still reading the fic.
Staggered posting would be fine because, honestly, there's no way to read lots of fic really fast when it all comes out at the same time.
The workload on the mods must have been huge, with posting to both LJ and DW. Personally, I found it a bit hard to keep up with the two sites and not everyone was initially aware that there was a whole extra site over there with comments. Was it worth the extra effort to keep a few LJers happy? Or better to just stick to DW in future which is easier to post longfic to? And especially as LJ's been so shonky lately.
But overall - please organise another one - it's been excellent fun!

It seems like the commenters on the discussion posts seem to be generally in favour of staggered posting, so I'll seriously consider it for next year. That way, posting the fic and art would be a lot easier too.

Last year I was very concerned about the number of participants, and expected an even lower number as people move on to other canons, so I wanted to maximize the number of participants. I haven't checked out comment count differences on the two sites, but there were a number of people signed up this year with only LJ accounts, or with only DW accounts, so I think that mirroring the comm did help somewhat. This is definitely something I'll have to figure out once it gets closer to next year, and I can see the state of the fandom (where are the most active fans, how will the posting work, etc).

Thank you for the feedback!

I second what mific said - thanks for all the work and the douboe posting but perhaps it would be easier to have all in one place?

and I would very much like it if there were another reverseband next year . *g*

Thank you for the feedback! Do you have a preference as to which site you'd prefer the challenge to run on?

I hope there will be another reversebang too, but I'll have to see how things work out.

No, I don't have a preference both sites are fine with me.
But I know that it is easier to post longer stories on DW - so perhaps that's the better choice?

If there's no general consensus of one site vs the other, I would like to choose DW as it's easier to post long stories there. (Although I was happy to find out that LJ can just fit a 10,000-11,000 word story)

I enjoyed participating for my first time this year. Thanks for making it a great experience!

I think staggered posting is a good idea... three or four stories a day would probably mean there's something for most tastes available without overwhelming the readers with choices. But even just splitting the posting into two sets would be appreciated.

There were so many wonderful stories this year. If you run it again I'll be eager to participate and to see all the great art and stories that come out of it!

Thank you for participating, and I'm glad to hear that you had a good time! :D

As I stated above, it seems like the commenters on the discussion posts seem to be generally in favour of staggered posting, so I'll seriously consider it for next year.
