(I accidentally typed 'Satan' up there at first, which tells you the kind of day that it's been.)

As some of you may have already realised, the community was suspended last night due to some kind of fubar at LiveJournal's end. We weren't the only community hit - they also hit mmom, which moonlettuce runs and on which I'm a maintainer, and I've heard of other ( Read more... )

You're an angel and thank you so much for doing this! I'm amazed that the DW import worked so smoothly for the stories (seeing as none of them are currently visible on LiveJournal with the admin account suspended).

The masterlists don't work on DW (the links all point to LJ), but because of how well everything is tagged and organized, I don't think that will be a problem. So, so, so much better than losing this archive of wonderful fic!

I knew the masterlists wouldn't work :) I may update at some point, but again it's a lot of work and - as you say - everything is tagged and the tags imported perfectly.

I have no problem as long as you know I don't have a DW account and most likely will never have one.....I just don't have the time or energy to keep up with another account of some kind.

You won't need to have a Dreamwidth account at any point. You don't even need a LiveJournal account to take part in the exchange :)

I've only read SGA Santa stories, not written any, but I applaud you taking proactive steps to ensure a backup for the stories was created. No website or business should be assumed to be guaranteed to exist forever.

The mapping of imported comments to a DW account is because that's an option over on DW, to claim imported comments that way. :)

I thought it might be something like that but I hadn't seen that option.

I may have a poke around and see if I can find it though.

Very smart move. I can't imagine the heartache if all those stories were lost. And there's no guarantee that something like this won't happen again.
