You gave Sateda a lot of layers here. The mix of technology, folklore, and tradition makes the place feel much more real than the quick glimpses we got on the show.

It's an interesting take on Ronon -- that he grew up outside Sateda's society as a survivalist explains how he lived so long as a runner. It wasn't Sateda's army that made him a warrior, it was his grandfather. It's unexpected, and I liked that.

Melena is a great character. I liked her romance with Ronon, and also her friendship with Charra. And I loved all the mentions of Melena's butterflies, the noise they make as they fly, that they eat honey. They were a nice motif throughout the story.

Writing Sateda was awesome; I had a blast trying to hit a nice balance of tech and tradition, so thank you for mentioning that it felt layered and real. I'm okay with delivering the unexpected. *g* Hell, I'm not sold on this take being the Only Way it happened, but I'm certain that it could have been one of the ways. I'm so pleased that you liked Melena, and her butterflies. Thank you for your thoughtful comments.
