Oh, wow. I haven't read any Temeraire books yet (one on order as my present to myself, yay!), but this still is just...breathtaking. The voices, the characterization, the description -- everything -- is just perfect for the era. John and Rodney are both perfectly themselves, yet always speak and act as gentlemen of the era would. John was just...so very John, and the description of his pining was just so delicately done, so understated and yet powerful, wow. And of course when they *do* get together, what a wonderful, wonderful rubbing of snouts that was. What an amazing amount of work this must have been, and how very special a fic this is!!

I love this SO MUCH. Especially how true to both canons you are-I am especially impressed by how much of John's history fits so seamlessly in here. And oh oh oh, dearest John, SUCH a good John, holding everything so close, and retreating to write his letters, or to talk to the dragons, and knowing that what he has is good, the best, and yet, still, wanting more . . . And pasties and barnacles and swoons and situations well in hand, as;dfasladskasdfjasd;lkj.

*loves helplessly and utterly and completely*

I think it says something about the timelessness of military matters / concerns that he fits in wherever there's something to protect? Maybe!

And thank you!

That was just fantastic!!! I love the Temeraire books and seeing them in that world--what an absolute treat. This is one I will read again and again, just for the pleasure of the words and the beauty of the storytelling. You rock!

Damn, this was brilliant. I love the way you meshed the SGA characters so seamlessly with the Temeraire verse.

Also? The British were an obstacle to be resisted, molded by broadsheet and pulpit into monstrous, despotic form, bastion of aid and comfort to the enemies of all whom liberty might reach. is a beauty of a sentence.
