Teyla character facts

Delibrately copying Following muccamukk's McKay character dump, I'm gonna post one for Teyla and include some stuff on the Athosians since I love collecting random trivia and it's just sitting on my computer doing nothing. Info includes both seasons, so spoilers may be included.

Teyla Emmagan, Leader of the Athosians

Childhood, Family, Friends and Trading Partners
-Father's name is Tagan (Rising Pt. 1) and was taken by the Wraith (The Gift).
-Mother is deceased (Critical Mass)
-Used to play in a cave as a child where survivors hid from the Wraith during the last great attack on Athos (Rising pt. 1)
-Lost a necklace as a kid that was given to her by her father as a present, but it was really a tracking device that had been dormant until activated by the ancient gene in Sheppard, which was used by the Wraith to find Anicents (Suspicion).
-Has never been seperated from the Athosians until the depature in "Suspicion" (Suspicion)
-Use to paint pictures while she sang the songs of the Ancients as a little girl to Charin (The Gift), who she considers to be like a grandmother to her (Critical Mass)
-Knew Sora the Genii for most her life (The Eye)
-Orin was a good friend of her father's and considers him family. Has traded with him before (Letters From Pegasus)
-Traded with the now deceased Genii Tirus on several occassions (The Underground)
-Traded Athosian man power for disease resistant flax seed with the Belkans (Trinity)
-Traded with Atlantis. Atlantis gave them grapes and they in turn gave them wine (Sanctuary). As pointed out by muccamukk

Wraith Abilities
-Has some Wraith DNA in her genetic make-up making her a small part Wraith (The Gift)
-Has been able to sense the Wraith coming as far back as she can remember (The Gift)
-She first felt it as a little girl and she couldn't breathe right before a dart showed up (The Gift)
-The sense feels like a deep cold from within (The Gift)
-Can only sense conscious Wraith that are near-by (ex: The Lost Boys, cause she couldn't sense the unconscious ones in Ford's cave)
-Can tap into the Wraiths' psychic network by going into a relaxed mode of hypnosis/concentration, and sense their emotions and see what they see (The Gift, Siege III).
-It is because of this psychic ability the Wraith have been trying to establish a system that would restrict inter-ship communications. That way if she, or anyone else with this ability, taps into their network only one ship will be compromised and not the whole fleet (The Lost Boys)
-*Has flown a Hive ship (Misbegotten)

Food
-Has had a beer from Earth, possibly even popcorn because of Sheppard's statement of "..the last of the popcorn *we* ate", but that could have meant "we" as in Ford, McKay and Weir cause Teyla didn't touch any of it in "Hide and Seek" if that's what he is referring to, or another time we just didn't see where there was more and they ate the last of it (Home).
-Enjoys Tuttleroot soup (The Gift, Critical Mass)

Other Random Things That Might Pop Up On Who Wants To Be A Millionaire...or not
-Is not fluent in Ancient, but knows some from prayers (Hide and Seek) and can recognize certain words like “welcome” and “ascension” (Epiphany)
-Knows some of another language that I have no clue the name of (Suspicion)
-Is at least older than 24 (Childhood's End)
-Has a device or ring looking thing that has the ability to make fire (Rising Pt. 1, Hide and Seek)
-Said she'd never again endure a Genii harvest ceremony (The Underground)
-Is skilled in a martial art known to us as Kali (or Escrima), but not named on the show. There have been several forms shown:
1. Two sticks** (Hot Zone, The Gift, Conversion, Duet, Condemned). Sometimes two sticks in one hand or one in each.
2. One stick (Suspicion)
3. One sick/one knife (Siege Pt. II)
4. One knife (The Eye)
**Stunt coordinator James Bamford or "Bam-bam" called them "Bantos rods" in a Q & A, but they've never been called that on the show. Just "sticks", lol
-Has also been seen teaching hand to hand combat in the gym (Conversion, Michael)
-Cannot cook Tuttleroot soup as well as Charin even though she has practiced (Critical Mass)
-Carries an ankle sheath under her pants...or at least did in one ep (The Brotherhood)
-Has been injected with Wraith enzyme (The Lost Boys)
-Can do the splits (Duet). Yeah, I know--super random
-Has physically been aboard a Wraith Hive ship three times (Rising Pt. II, The Underground, The Hive)
-Had at least one ancestor who resided on another planet other than Athos, which ended up passing the Wraith gene after being tested on (The Gift)
-Can sing beautifully (Critical Mass)
-Room is decorated with lots of drapery, pillows, candles and pots (as seen in The Gift, Duet)
-When Bates emptied out her bag it contained (or at least what I was able to catch on my DVD player going very slowly):
1. Two books
2. Her belt/holster worn in "Rising pt. 1 + 2", etc.
3. Brush
4. Mirror
5. A ring (I'm assuming the fire starting ring from "Rising" and "Hide and Seek". That's a big ass ring if it's not, lol)
7. The necklace, of course
6. And some type of beads. Whether or not those were attatched to a pouch or really just a necklace or something I can't tell. (Suspicion)

Athos and Athosian History, Traditions and Myths
-Are from a planet called Athos, but the Wraith scorched it bare in revenge for their resistance after it was evacuated (The Storm)
-The Athosians are now settled on the mainland of Atlantis' planet (Suspicion)
-Each morning, a stout tea is consumed to brace them for the coming day (Rising pt. 1)
-Believed that the Wraith would come if they ventured into the old city, but was not tested in some time (Rising pt. 1)
-The last great holocaust on Athos was five generations ago, but smaller numbers of Wraith come every once in a while to remind them of their power (Rising pt. 1)
-Some of the Athosians have the ability to sense the Wraith (Rising pt. 1, The Gift). Some can sense it stronger than others, but Teyla is among the first to know (The Gift)
-The Athosians are a nomadic (Rising pt. 1 ref: "We move our hunting camps around.."), hunting (The Storm), agrarian society.
-Their greeting and good-bye consists of one person placing their hands on the other person's shoulders, and the two people's foreheads are met like a bow for a few seconds (Rising Pt. 2, etc)
-Some Athosians believe the ghosts of the ancestors still remain in Atlantis (Hide and Seek)
-When praying to the ancestors, a prayer is said before a request in Ancient, which translates to "Fathers of Light of the Ever Lasting Temple" (Hide and Seek)
-Teyla's father often told stories about creatures like the Iratus Bug to keep children from straying far from the camp (38 Minutes)
-Teyla has heard of stories about Runners her whole life, but never met one nor did she believe it was true (Runner)
-A ritual prayer is said when one knows death is upon them (38 Minutes)
-Being accused of serving the Wraith is the greatest insult among the Athosians (Siege Pt. I)
-The Ring Ceremony celebrates the death of a person through natural causes because reaching an age old enough to die naturally is rare due to the Wraith cullings. A ring of stones is laid out, which symbolizes the Ring of the Ancestors/Stargate, and in the center is where the body is placed. A song is then sung kinda like a funeral (Critical Mass)

Athosians We Know or That Have Been Mentioned
Halling (Rising Pt. 1 + 2, Hide and Seek, 38 Minutes, Suspicion, Siege Pt. II)
Jinto (Rising Pt. 1 + 2 and Hide and Seek)
Wex (Hide and Seek)
Marta (Hide and Seek)
Toran (Rising Pt. 1 + 2)
Selena [mentioned] (Suspicion)
Charin (The Gift, Critical Mass)
Doran (The Storm)

Yeah, and that's all I've got. Looking over this, I don't know what's sadder: the fact that a lot of her character facts came from season 1, or that 90% of them are in five out of twenty episodes, lol.

If you have more to add, go for it! I'm sure I've missed or messed up something, lol.
