oh god. Oh God! You...with your bike comment! Now you have connected John Sheppard to the images I have of my brother at that age: cutoff jeans shorts, white tube socks with two side red stripes near the knees, battered keds, a blue and white striped tennis wristband, surrounded by other boys dressed exactly the same, jumping their bikes over anything they could pile up in the middle of road, kids yelling 'car, car' and everyone getting out of the road while the driver had to swerve around the pile... oh man, growing up in the seventies was something, wasn't it?

don't forget the neighborhood girls watching, sitting pretty on their schwinn bikes with the banana seats and streamers dangling from their handlebars, hair up in pigtails with the gigantic rubberbands with balls on the end of them.

Er, Joe himself? Pegasus One convention this weekend and Joe was talking about bits of himself he'd put into the character to give it a background - surfboard, skateboard, Johnny Cash poster (he can't play the guitar though) - and one of the things he said was about this photo that was taken at a fair.
