Great look into Teyla, and very true, with the loneliness and distance. I love to see Teyla POV in fic. Canon really treats her badly.

It's there, in the last line... She was getting too close to John, I think, and had to pull away quickly before something developed that she couldn't handle both as a member of his team, and as the leader of her people.

Aaah, I misinterpreted that. I thought it was something he did and she didn't like, that frightened her, maybe, so she just stopped thinking about him at that point.

But this way - that she has to stop herself, just doesn't allow herself to think about him anymore - it's better.

Oh, wow, this is achey and beautifully characterised. I find Teyla a bit hard to get sometimes but this makes perfect sense, she really is stuck between the two places and her role in each, isn't she.

Lovely and raw and powerful.
