This is so beautiful, I loved the last section, it's a wonderful characterisation of Teyla, and how I can imagine her acing. The sad thing I suppose is that people would be used to death, and however bad it was she *would* move on, because she'd have to. But this is the way I can imagine her saying goodbye.
And thanks for reading! It wasn't a story I ever expected to write - and it certainly wasn't a story I thought many people would want to read! - but the memory of the winter fires imagery stayed with me, and turned into this story.
*Wails* This is soooo sad. I have a love/hate relationship for fics that show our characters deaths but this was done so well....so beautifully written and perfectly in character. So thank you *runs off to find a tissue*
Thanks! I'm a bit weary of character death stories - I read them, but they have to be done right - but this story just came to me and demanded to be written. At least they all died heroically, and are remembered.
oh gods... this is quite beautiful. I like that Teyla is going on - in some manner - and that she finally rejoins her family and in doing so mourns those who became her family. Very nicely done.
Thanks! It struck me that Teyla and her people have lived through so much awfulness, that they must be used to moving on just because they have to. However, that doesn't mean that it will ever be easy.
This had me crying at the end! It's so sad! You're a horrible, horrible person! Now I have to go read all kinds of happy fluff so I can get to sleep tonight.
Yeah. *guilty look* I almost cried writing it, and I never cry at my own stories - not until I reread them some months later, that is, when they're not so immediate.
