And that would be the story as written by a human with empathy and not, you know, a soulless fanboy of some sort.

Personally, I think TPTB are convinced that the only way to keep the attention of any males watching SGA is to make sure they get plenty of boobies to see. Which is kind of insulting to guys. As for any women watching? Well, we apparently aren't a part of SciFi channel's target audience for any of their original programming, considering their surprise and consternation at finding out that 'The Dresden Files' had quite a large female fan-base.

Actually, I did think Rodney's canon reaction was pretty likely for his character. I just thought it was equally likely for it to go the other way.

Thanks very much for commenting!

yeah I guess it could go either way. I reacted a bit more like this version of Rodney did, all "NO! Not a clone, I want *OUR* Carson!" so even though Rodney's reaction in canon was sweet in its loyalty, in a way, this kind of reaction works too.

It may be different for a person who doesn't live her life muddled in a reality full of alternate versions of yourself appearing randomly, or quantum mirrors or what have you, but if my best friend died and an exact replica of her appeared one day, I'd be distant too, because it wouldn't be HER, you know? It would, but yet it wouldn't, and I'd just not want to go there again, especially after losing her once.

:D ... There I go, overthinking things again. Haha. Anyway, good one shot.

That was my thought - that Rodney, being more likely to come up with all the different ways that this Carson could exist, would also be all too aware that this could not be their Carson.

On the other hand, confronted with someone that so clearly thought he was Carson, I could see how easy it would be to want to forget that this wasn't the same man. I just wanted to present the other way it could go.

Thanks for the comment! It's been really hard to me to write much of anything for a long time, so I'm happy that I managed to produce this - and just in time for the challenge.

Yeah, this is much better, more human-realistic, than what we got.

One thing I liked about Farscape was the story arc where Aeryn fell in love with one of two identical Johns (long story on how that happened, but they were BOTH the "real" John), her John dies, and she doesn't just automatically gravitate to the other John as a substitute. It took a lot of time and episodes before she'd even *look* at the second John, let alone accept him as someone she loved. They didn't rush it.

Thank you!

Yes, Farscape was such a great show...and the Aeryn/Crichton relationship was so wonderfully complex. There's just not enought great TV like that.

I'm not unhappy with the beginning of K2, but I do like this one--poor Rodney! Though this actually makes me understand the ending a little better, so thank you!

Thank you! I thought either way was just as likely, but I wanted to get down in words the opposite reaction as the show. It's so nice to actually manage to get the stuff in my head into words again - writer's block sucks.

And I'm happy to have been of assistance! But I really felt, since Rodney was so accepting of Carson in canon, that he should have hugged Carson. I wanted to see that happen.

*snorfle* It goes without saying that you wanted to see that happen. Thing is, it seems strange - even from an entirely non-slash perspective, which I attempt on occasion - that they would not have hugged.

You know how it is, though. Guys on TV almost never hug. Someone might think they're gay or something. *eye-roll*

And hooray for writing, welcome back!

I like Rodney's attitude here..... While he knows about Ascended beings coming back, he doesn't want to lose his Carson again..... nicely done!
