There always seemed to be Genii who considered Kolya a hero. It was fun to imagine how they saw his actions as opposed to Sheppard's.

Wow, very interesting! At first I thought the story was about Sheppard, because his and Kolya's stories are actually quite similar, if you think about it. I like how you're playing with the fact that there is no objective position/no ultimate good or bad side.
