This has such a... mellow feel to it. He's accepted the facts, moved on, worked through it, but that doesn't mean he doesn't look back without tinges of regret. And his dream of going out... it's a different aspect of Sheppard than the ones that most people touch on, I think.

Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking, too. He's a soldier, after all, so he must be used to dealing with death and loss and still be able to live his life in spite of it.

No, but I tend to think that he wouldn't want anybody to care for him like that, because then he would be the one responsible for their pain. This way all of them are good. Mostly.

...and even if it's missing two vital parts, it still functions, it's still his team; another one, but his nonetheless.

Didn't mention those alive, because it is 'ways to die', after all, and I also think Ronon would know when to let Sheppard go, just like the other way round.
