I've been in a haiku mood recently, and I was inspired by this challenge and crysothemis's picture of John with wings. Beta'd by the marvelous accidentalfan.

Desire for wings,
cliché for a pilot, true,
but oh, how he wants.

If he could, he'd soar,
Atlantis a speck below,
salt breeze rushing by.

Rodney knows, of course,
sees the want, the need to fly,
sans that metal skin.

He searches, for John.
But if the Ancients knew how,
they've kept that secret.

Pegasus or not,
it remains a dream, unknown,
just a wistful thought.

Until a new lab
is found, the secret revealed,
of feathers, true flight.

It's not forever,
but for that day he can fly
how he was meant to.
