"Hey!" Ford snapped. "My hometown -- at least, the place I was living during high school -- fell into the ground a few years ago. I do know what it's like to lose a past."

This may just be my strange imagination coming up with this inference, but did Ford live in Sunnydale? Great beginning, by the way.

Funnily, that's my thought when I read it too.

I'm pretty sure saphanibaal says somewhere - maybe not explicitly, but pretty definitely - that he is from Sunnydale. And Col. Sumner too, if I remember correctly.

^_^

I don't know that I'd ever write a crossover per se -- BtVS was the sort of thing where I'd catch half an episode now and then, which isn't enough for a proper grounding -- but in my head, half the Marines in the initial expedition were from the last class to graduate the one high school; the planners of the expedition would have wanted those of the soldiers whose reaction to weird crap was "Yeah, I've seen worse" who were unlikely to have people come looking for them, the armed forces have traditionally been a route for people to get out of their hometowns at another's expense (particularly if a suitably charismatic or authoritative recruiter convinced a whole chunk at once), and I should think those who'd survived that graduation would have a strong desire for Anywhere-But-Here. (Even if it worked out to "same shit, different galaxy.")

And thank you for the compliment!

John Sheppard's reaction, therefore, was perfectly reasonable
under the circumstances.

Yeah, John. Keep telling yourself that. ;p

This is fun! I'm looking forward to the rest of it (along with those other multi-parters you've got going). The banter between them is perfect - I can just about hear them saying it.

Yeah, I'm currently doing the dance of "hey, WiPs, any of you feeling like continuing in a 'cake or death'wardsly direction?" ^_^

Thank you; that really means a lot to me.

The pointy ears, messy hair, facial expression, general hairyness and tendency to hoard nuts. He's so obviously a squirrel.

I can't believe it took me so long to get this. (In retrospect, looking up some aspects of Arthruan legend helped a lot, as did Visitations.) Now I'm really looking forward to the rest of the Amara series.

"And Meeza's marked by Keii, so her food has to be where ours can't touch it."

"Meeza mustn't eat kalna roots," Jazny explained.

"People who've been marked by Keii can't eat kalna roots?"

Meeza shrugged. "It varies.

so, I've found parts 1/3, 2/4, and 1/5. I don't suppose you have links to the rest somewhere?
