I didn't read the first story, but this one is really cool. I like the not-paradox of Teyla seeing herself both times, but misunderstanding whos iit was she was seeing the first time.

P.S. Your description of where the story's title came from made me giggle at its accuracy.

Thank you! I'm glad that the story works on its own.

And in re title: hey, if you can't have a sense of humor about your own faith, what CAN you laugh about?

Sweet little follow-up to the original.

"The Genii I spoke with said that they showed one one's future husband if one chanted the proper incantation."

The archwizard's face was a wonder and a joy to behold.

I imagine it was. ^_^ And I love how you shift vocabulary to fit the character's POV. It's very effective.

It's sort of the first scene of something longer, but hey, deadline, and this stands on its own well enough.

Again, thank you; it seems to be one of the simplest ways to show how some of these people have different worldviews. (Although sometimes it goes too far; I have to kick myself not to use Canadian spelling in dialogue, particularly as I don't actually HAVE the world's best grasp of Canadian spelling.)

I admire that this doesn't change the original story at all. Given what you've established in this series, the Genii belief was accurate. The really neat part is, adult Teyla knows there are different ways of looking at things and knows each is accurate in its way.
