Thanks so much! I really appreciate the feedback...this one's kind of special to me because of the kids I've worked with, but it's not exactly the kind of topic most people want to read. :)

What an awesome story! You never know what's really underneath the surface of anyone. Weir had a fierce determination that can overcome most anything. This is a very realistic version of childhood for her. Nicely done.

Thanks so much! I'm glad this view of her worked for you...it's always been in my personal canon that she had to overcome some serious trauma from her past, but the muse just recently let me know what.

It wasn't until I read that line that I suddenly realized Betsy was short for Elizabeth. Very nice, subtle way of introducing Elizabeth's background. And I liked the use of Carson at the end -- a better choice than John or Rodney.
