This fic just goes to confirm two things I have long been sure of:

1. Hans Christian Anderson is freaking depressing

2. You guys write amazingly well.

Every time I see that icon I think of the Emerald Heart of Koshkei the Deathless, the Russian fairytale. It's a good meta on you, the fact that you will live forever because you have RIPPED YOUR OWN HEART OUT. And now you want us to keep you company, so you tell us heart rending stories to see if we'll do it, too.

Which is really passive-agressive of you. You could just ask. :D

//Well, that and "The Snow Queen", but there just wasn't time to have John run off with Yet Another Ancient Priestess.//

Besides, John doesn't really seem to be the sort of person who can neither see anything but the bad and petty side of things nor feel anything but distance and impossible-to-hide arrogance -- not unless "John" turns out to be the given name of Dr. Kavanagh, who has acted as if he's got a bit of that mirror in his eye at least. ^_^

...um... check your subject line, btw.

Also true. I can see Rodney warping that way. =D Not because he IS but because the mirror is BAD.

#^_^# Thank you. The cold meds are making me loopy #^_^#

The mirror IS bad. *nods firmly*.

("The Snow Queen" is probably one of my five favorite fairytales anyway -- up there with "Beauty and the Beast, "Vasilisa the Brave," "Marya Morevna," and "Momotaro"/"Uriko".)

And everyone has moments like that. I've had a few this challenge myself.

My granny used to read it to us whenever she came to visit. That, Little Mermaid and the Matchstick story, always, always. I grew up with the fairytales that meant scary business, myself ^_~ I was so offended when Disney made their version of Little Mermaid that I could have had a fit *grins* I saw the Japanese version when I was tiny, and cried for a week because she settled into seafoam.

See that pile of dust on the ground?

Well, that was my heart, before you broke it.

Fantastic story.

*woobles* I'm sorry we broke it! I'm sure we can pay for it somehow. WIth something less. Um. Okay, yeah, we don't generally do less breakable. *contemplates*

Waah! That's sad. Ostracized!Rodney angst isn't really my thing, but the way you made that into a fairytale fusion is very cool.

It makes me woobly. The thought of how things must have BEEN post-Trinity is just one big heart-rending moment of "Oh GOD!" for me #^____^#

Thank you. I've always had a huge thing for that particular HCA tale. I blame Granny.
