Seriously, this was one of the very first SGA ideas I ever had, and I was so happy that I finally got a chance to write it (even though, according to the legends, selkies in human shape are supposed to look rather more like Sheppard). Rodney would be absolutely disgusted with an ability like that, wouldn't he?

As for the 'other thing' -- that'd take at least as long to set up properly as this did, not to mention that he'd be far less likely to talk about it even in a similar shocky state. For what it's worth, it's loosely based on some ideas Stargate: SG-1 tossed in the air, plus one of its episodes that I had certain... philosophical issues with.
