huh... my understanding from what we had seen was that the 9th chevron needed a LOT of energy to dial.... but it was SGC's idea to use the planet with the naquadriah core.... that they moved it there for that use... It being the only way they could think of to procure THAT much energy...

I would assume that the ancients would have a more effective, less destructive way to do it...

at least that was what I picked up... but i suppose I could have misheard something....

That might be right as well, I'm afraid I missed most of the last two SG1 seasons, it's was on at midnight-1am where I live, so I've only got the beginning of SGU to work from.

If I remember correctly though, they needed Eli for his math skill pertaining to the power on the Icarus Planet, so if they moved it to a different planet with more power, why would he need to solve an Ancient math problem for the ninth chevron pertaining to the Icarus planet, wouldn't moving the items to a planet other than were they where placed by the ancients make the original Ancient math problem null and void?

After all, I doubt every planet in the universe is based on the exact same set of energy creation and gravitational laws, otherwise every planet would be the same as Earth, and all life would have evolved the same as Earth as well.

Why yes, I have put far too much thought into this.
