Never born, at least in my head. The only picture being the fetal image after all.

I left it open as to whether she miscarried or due to the whole situation she chose to abort.

Thank you, I usually can't stay away from angst. I actually had the crystal/baby plot bunny in my head for a while but I had tried to write a S/T fic but it wouldn't come. For some reason, when I saw S/C and baking the words just flowed. I think it was because JEM became the perfect initials.

So I'm browsing around, reading old fic that I've never read and came across this gem.

Brilliantly done! I especially love the ending, although when I first read Sam's last message, I thought she meant her father Jacob. His last words (basically) had been for her to find a way to be happy, and this was AU Sam's way of showing our Sam that she'd found that way. Then when I read the next bit "Jacob Elliot Mitchell", the whole sequence held a double meaning for me, and made it that much more poignant. I loved it.
