This is my second fic and my first post on LJ.

He awoke with a start. It was getting near morning, the sky was faintly tinged with dusky pink, blue and green and the early morning light just filtered in through the blinds.

She lay with her back to him, breathing gently. Her skin was soft and smelled of roses and the vague whiff of antiseptic. The latter smell never seemed to fade but had permeated her skin as she had to scrub her hands with it twenty times a day.

He could see the curve of her spine as it snaked down to where the white sheet covered her hips. He resisted the urge to twitch the sheet away altogether. She needed her sleep. She had come back late again last night. She pushed herself too hard, working long hours in her dedication to healing the sick. He worried that she was doing too much but he knew he would say nothing. Not that she would listen anyway. She was far too dedicated to her job.

He crossed his arms behind his head and lay staring at the ceiling. He had dreamed about her again. Once again the dream had been vague and misty and certain details eluded him. In the dream he was locked in a room with her. The room was strange to him and he could not understand where they were or why they were there. There seemed to be no immediate danger but they wanted to get out. She needed to help others as she was a doctor.

He had dreamed the same dream many, many times now. It was always the same. But the one thing that he could never forget, was the absolute certainty that he and this woman were meant for each other. They were meant to be together, like two halves of one whole, and that if he was to be truly happy in this life or the next, he must find her. He didn’t believe in fate or destiny but somehow this was different. It was as though some pre-determined course had been set and could not be altered. But by whom he did not know.

How many times, though, do dreams come true? Never? Once in a millennium? So how incredible was it that he had actually found the woman of his dreams. As soon as he laid eyes on her, he felt she was the one. She had soft honey blond hair and pale skin with a tiny sprinkling of freckles. She was caring and passionate about her work. She was passionate in other ways too, as he had discovered when he eventually overcame her shyness and had got her into his bed.

She sighed deeply and turned over, awake at last.

“Hey you.” she said.

“Hey you too” he said. He reached out stroked the soft curve of her cheek and she smiled as she reached out to him.

The odd thing was, he thought as he buried his fingers in her hair and drew her lips to his, that her eyes were the wrong colour. His dream woman had eyes that changed colour in different lights, sometimes green and sometimes hazel while Melena’s were dark brown.

So another day dawned on Sateda for Specialist Ronon Dex and Melena. And if any doubt niggled at him he quashed the uncertainty in his mind. Of course she was his dream woman - wasn’t she?
