PSA: The Tablet scheduled to close soon

If you're a fan of old skool SG-1 fic, you might want to check out The Tablet, as Jb has informed me that it won't be around much longer. Many of the authors hosted there have moved on to AO3, but there are also fics there that might not be available after the site goes down in a few months

That depends on what format you want, etc. I read fic on a Kindle, for the most part, so my Firefox extension converts it for me. You could simply save the pages as HTML if that suits you.

That's sad, I'll have to check that I've saved all the ones I want... though there will probably be wayback...

Eh, I wouldn't trust Wayback. You get some pages saved, but not all of 'em. Grab them while you can, says I!

It's so sad. It made me cry almost as hard as when All Daniel Fic disappeared. A few of the authors have moved their fics over to AO3, but not all.

Oh yeah. Some authors deliberately post their fic all over the place to escape this very problem, but not enough. It's all very well for them to move on from the fandom, but what about us?! ;)

I understand and share in your dismay about all the sites that have unceremoniously disappeared. Stargatefan, especially, was (and still is) a source of sadness for me.

I hope you aren't including the Tablet authors as some of 'them', though? I would not take down the site unless it was unavoidable, and am doing my best to give people advance notice and alternative links.

That was a bit tongue-in-cheek, I assure you. Believe me, the warning you've given is deeply appreciated. Stargatefan and AllDanielfic vanished with no warning; Heliopolis is gone, now, too. There isn't much left, really. :(

Kawalsky's father with 8-year-old Daniel isn't quite the same as some... others. ;) So yeah, I'm good at euphemisms!

Well, you won't find anyone with 8-year-old Daniel on the Tablet ... zippers and the use thereof, yeah, so maybe 'a bit sideways' is, comparatively speaking, a compliment of sorts?
