This is for zats_clear, who asked me (a long time ago) for some backstory for S10's Road Not Taken. The four drabbles below are based upon quotes from the episode where the darker alternate reality diverged from the SGC's timeline. Drabble word count does not include the italicized quotes. Spoilers for various eps, and reference to non-canon major AU ( Read more... )

Oh, wow. These hurt. It never crossed my mind that his own people could have kidnapped and turned over Daniel, but in this universe, I'd believe it.

"The Tok'ra are worse than useless. The Asgard are always busy. And the Jaffa need us more than we need them."
I hate to say it, but Vidrine kind of has a point here.

I had a lot of trouble with RNT's backstory when the ep aired - with Vala in jail in Area 51, for example, and the Glastonbury cache never explored, how did they meet the Ori? - but that was the explanation that instantly leaped to mind. As you say, all too believable for that universe.

I hate to say it, but Vidrine kind of has a point here.

Well, you know how I feel about the canon lack of allies :) but whether or not it was true at that moment, abandoning the greater galaxy is nothing short of stupid.

Thanks!

Wow, these are frighteningly believable for that AU. The first one... god. I've always wondered where Jack is in that ep and why nobody even mentions him in that reality... this fits.

And Landry turned Daniel over? Yikes! :(

::nods:: The utter lack of Jack and the reference to the chair... It just made sense to me.

And Landry turning Daniel over to the Ori is a pet theory of mine. It was a creepy AU!

Glad you liked it. :)

Really, really good and really, really disturbing. Wonderful! Your reason for Jack's absence is chilling. And you wrote MAYBOURNE! Nicely done on all four!!!

Thanks! "Chilling" and "disturbing" are good words for this alternate reality, yes.

And of course I couldn't resist adding some Maybourne bad guy. ;)

Eeep! Creepy and disturbing (especially that last one, yikes!), but then again, I can't think of any two words that fit that alternate reality any better.

Yes, creepy and disturbing definitely describes this AR very well.

I don't know why I'm so utterly convinced that Daniel was "captured" in that way, but I am. :)

Thanks!
