Oh, what an intriguing present! The bonfire and Vala's pushing getting Daniel to reface the decisions he made when he was in Harrid. They're both of course very scarred from this experience, and it's something they're continuing to face now. No easy answers.

Poor Daniel. Poor Vala. Poor Milky Way.

I really like the end with the metaphor of the path, and Vala sticking around to join him as he walks and the path fades from sight. That's excellent, and very haunting.
