Now this I really, really like.

I often still see Cam as the newbie, trying to fit in a Jack O'Neill sized hole. The nice thing is Daniel and Sam NEED someone like him - they've earned it, and paid the price, suffered much. He's there tell them to take the time to stop and smell the roses. In the long term that is what will keep their sanity.

That's a good way to put it. SG-1 doesn't need a leader who makes them work harder, quite the opposite. And they need to be reminded that it's all still pretty amazing. I'm very glad you liked it!!

Oh I always saw Jack as someone who watched over his 'kids' making sure they were safe and and making sure they got lunch and enough down time. Now they are older and wiser, and more capable of looking after themselves, its less of the baby sitting and more of a pastoral thing I think.

Yeah, Cam is really more of an equal than a leader, although formally, he is. He provides some Gung Ho, in all aspects! Jack was a true leader.

Oh I like this. Cam giving Sam and Daniel both a check to stop and smell the roses.

That was incredibly beautiful. I love the Sam/Daniel connection as the only two who can really understand what's happening inside each other (in Teal'c's absence, of course).

And Cam as, not the outsider, but as someone with a fresher perspective. He's had some of the turmoil, but not all of it and he can remind them of how wonderful their job can be.

I like this. Daniel having to re-learn how to see the wonder in things after all these years, and Cam being the one to show it to him. Nice parallel to Daniel originally doing the same for Jack. And Sam not only recognizing what's going on with Daniel, but seeing it in herself as well. Very nice!

Thanks very much! To my way of thinking, the role reversal aspect is one of the things that adds to Daniel's feelings of loss of self in the story. He's had to learn things he never wanted to, but he's still Daniel, when all is said and done. Glad you liked it!
