Yes to Teal'c's voice! I'd been waiting for it and would have been awfully disappointed if I hadn't gotten it! It sounds very right: he's still very much thinking as a Jaffa, and he can think about how easily he could kill his teammates even as he's thinking about saving them--or them saving him. The Tau'ri must indeed seem strange to him.

I love how Daniel and Sam each think that Teal'c is condescending to them, for different reasons, and then decide that he's not--because he treats the other the same way.

I love how Jack is thinking about making a team out of these people, but he's got to learn himself about when and how to rely on them.

Sam needs to have her concussion checked out too, because it seems clear enough she's got one. Been there, done that, got the hospital bill. Daniel is definitely doing some concussed thinking. But wait! It's not all that different than his usual thinking! (See: "Politics," "Within the Serpent's Grasp.")

Thanks for a great story!

My suspicion is that Teal'c acdtually is a little condescending, but if you're over 90, you're entitled.

And, yeah, did the concussion thing, too -- and doesn't Daniel do his best thinking when he's about to pass out or been really smacked upside the head? (Thinking about Hadante there.)

You're probably right about Teal'c condescending (on both counts).

I keep telling myself that the concussion was a really useful experience for writing. Oddly, though, my thinking didn't get better.

Daniel's very special. :-)

I like this -- I agree with most people's thoughts, Jack was definitely intent and calculating when it came to making his team. And yeah, Daniel has some odd ideas when it comes to teamwork but it all somehow functions at the end of the day. And poor Teal'c, thinking that because he hadn't killed his new teammates that it's proof he's okay.

It amused me no ends in The Shroud when Daniel's still coming up with plans that put his neck on the line, without a thought to involving a team to back him up. Yep, ten years on and his idea of teamwork is he dives into the deep end, and everyone else stays out of the line of fire. There's some things that just don't sink in with Daniel.

Great team fic! The history of the 'dying race' was fantastic, with well-thought-out details about their culture and language. I was impressed by the 'fear' herbs that Daniel described, as well as the idea of the oxygen-less room leading to mummification of the victim and Daniel reasoning this out. There was equal time given to everyone here, and the team dynamic was visibly building. Very nice. ;)

So glad you liked...it's the details that I love the best (and, yes, giving everyone good bits...)

Oh wow, this was awesome. I loved the teamwork and the POV shifts. I especially loved the Teal'c POV, which was spot-on, and the excellent teaminess toward the end. I loved the bit with "That's two things." "No, that's one thing. we are one thing." Very well done, indeed.
