Aussies, for anyone who has been looking to buy a cheap DVD player that will also play DivX or XviD files, DealsDirect currently has them on sale - HERE. And I'm spewing because it's cheaper than the one I just bought. LOL

i'm interested in that dvd player... does it play all region too? and cuz i'm all spaz, does that mean it can play straight avi files like, for example, the ones we download from kawoosh? :)

Hurro! It doesn't say on DealsDirect (I don't think they know) but when I did a search for the make and model (Highlander DVX 4533) an ebay listing popped up where it DOES say that's it's multi-region, so I'm going to assume so. :) If not, you can always do a google search for a hack I guess (I had to do this with the Grundig I just bought from DealsDirect last week).

And yes, you most certainly CAN play the files from kawoosh! :D That's what I've been doing with mine all this time - burn them to CD (or DVD if I have a full season/half season) and watch them through the DVD & TV. *g*

Dude, seriously. For that price, you DO need it. Hell, I just brought myself a new Grundig (also plays DivX) and am STILL tempted to get myself a new Highlander one so I have a spare. *headdesk*

(Also, my will is crumbling. I just realised that in working overtime today, I'll be getting approx an extra $200 net in my next pay. Resisting that DVD player just got a lot harder... *pouts*)
