Welcome to the dvd commentary for Lost City. This happens to be another of my favorite episodes. Martin Wood, Robert C. Cooper, and Amanda Tapping provide an engaging commentary. There was also going to be a flashback at some point to 50 million years ago when Atlantis takes off. RCC: “Hopefully one day you will see that.”
We got to see that scene with the Ancients taking off from Antarctica in the pilot "Rising" for Atlantis. They salvaged a lot from the original movie script, it seems.
Did they say 50 million years ago? That's interesting, since in the pilot they made it 5-10 million years ago. Fifty million years ago is when it is believed that they arrived in the Milky Way from their original home galaxy (based on the life of the crystal in the Antarctic DHD and assuming that the Stargate in Antarctica was the first/original).
It will be interesting to see if they incorporate these modifications to the timeline into the new series Universe when the Destiny was supposedly launched at the height of the Ancient civilization (when they were building Vis Uban), but then the plague hit. At the end of the Ancients' civilization after the plague almost totally wiped them out, Atlantis took off ( ... )

[Recapper’s privilege: I’ve yet to detect any sexual tension myself, but these things are in the eye of the beholder.]
I always got a vibe AT was surprised to hear they saw chemistry and wrote it in, but I may have been projecting. :-) It may come from reading the "awkwardness comment" a different way than I'm seeing it here in the transcript. Maybe I'll have to watch this again for myself.
Oh the torture. Listening to Amanda AND Martin Wood. *lurves on both of them*
The Don Davis, and Devane and Amanda joking about the black widow curse and and...so awesome!
Thanks again, smg! *pets puppy*
