Congrats to avidrosette, obaona, and winterfish! HUGE thank yous to beeej who had to shoulder all of the community responsibilities while I was dealing with Hurricane Ike and its aftermath.

Ooooooo! Where are you going? I'm just doing the domestic travel this year so I'll have to live vicariously!

:D I was only joking, I wish I could travel to distant countries all the time! I am going to Ireland pretty soon, but it's not really THAT distant and hopefully will be going to China as soon as I can :D Life is managing to get in the way of my travellings, poo.

Really? YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't commented on your posts because I've been a lazy sod but I happen to fangirl your work. Whether you plan to compete or not, if you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to make them. Participation in Round 1 is not required. :)

No challenges during Canadian Holidays? Thanksgiving in coming up a week from Monday.

Just joking. I am fine with working around any holidays.

LOL! Luckily that doesn't come up as an issue because there's no way we could be up and running by next week. We're discussing themes and caps at the moment -- and it seemed smart for us to ask those affected by the choices if *they* had pertinent opinions. ;)

I am curious -- is T-giving in Canada the big huge deal it is here in the U.S.? It's our most traveled holiday and we get 2 days off for it whereas we normally get only 1 day off for X-mas. Or is it more like Columbus Day

Thanksgiving is a family holiday in Canada and always on a Monday. We all get together and have turkey but it is only one day. Christmas is our big holiday like in the UK. In Canada get Christmas and Boxing Day (December 26) off although Boxing Day is now more shopping like your day after Thanksgiving.

The big difference between the Thanksgivings (besides the date) is that we are less likely to have yams with marshmallow topping although we understand that is an American delicacy. :-)

We get like a month off for Christmas Break, but I have yet to decide if I want to go home to our VERY slow dial-up. If I do go home, I may not participate, just use my skips. If I stay in Morris or go home with my bf, participating won't be a problem. :D
