Four times Jack cried and one time he didn't.green_grrlOctober 6 2006, 22:06:40 UTC
When his father was transferred from Chicago to head up the St. Cloud office, Jack cried. For leaving their house, their street, his school, and especially Benny and Tommy and Joe. His mother stroked his hair, and gently reminded him they'd be closer to his grandpa and the cabin. His father just gave him the sort of look that let him know he didn't approve. In the way of boys, Jack decided he'd never cry again

Fantastic list! (Yep, it's me on another catching-up sweep.) I love the ones that span Jack's life and use canon to good effect (which you always do), and way to go, including the move from Chicago to Minnesota, and the kind of withdrawal implied in that line in 'Need.' That well, he kept busy is a perfect tactical understatement. And the last one is perfect -- along with him not being able to cry over Charlie until he'd come back from numb emotional death, I absolutely believe that that was when he cried. Great stuff.

All of these made me wince, because ouch. (Well done!)
Daniel wasn't dead. He was off being happy and glowy and whatever.
I can just see Jack here, wanting to cry, but not being able to justify it to himself.
When Daniel came back and looked at him with that puzzled expression and called him Jim
That had to have hurt so much. ::snuggles both of the guys::

Wincing is pretty much what I was going for. *hugs*

Really beautiful and well-thought-out places where Jack would or wouldn't cry.
And did I say ouch?

Thank you, and yes, OUCH. *pets Jack*
