Welcome!

This is an open-participation, multi-writer version of the five-things meme that (as far as we know) started making the rounds in August 2006. (We'd love to credit whoever started it, if anybody knows.)

The original meme went something like this:

Post a topic, list, category, whatever, in my comments section. (Examples: "Five Jobs Walter Harriman ( Read more... )

Hey :) I was wondering if it'd be okay if I snagged the idea of this community for the Firefly fandom. A lot of people are having fun with the 5 things theme in there too and this community is an awesome idea XD

Hey, glad to see you started the comm! Your question got answered, right? 'Cause of course yes, and it was wonderful of you to ask. Thanks and good luck with it!

Hi - Thanks! I haven't really advertised it just yet, so it's not much to look at. But hopefully soon it will be :)

Let us know if you want to trade links as 'sister' comms -- we'll be updating our userinfo a bit for the new year and can add a link to your comm if you'd like. :-)

I deleted and reposted with a revised list on prompt #29.01; I wasn't quite happy with the first one. Hope that's okay. *g*

I'm a little confused because I am newer to LJ. To participate in the current prompt list, I just join the community and post my comment under the correct prompt, and it will show up for everyone later? Sorry for such a newbie question!

And for the older prompts, I just follow the instructions on the userinfo page?

Thank you. LJ is so much different from fanfic archives that I'm just learning the ropes on the etiquette.

Only the maintainers are able to 'join' the community. You can select to 'Watch this community' and then our announcement posts will show up on your Friends page.

You don't need to do anything special to be able to post your list. Just click on 'add some things' like you're commenting as you did here -- and put your list in the comment space. On the deadline day, we'll unscreen the lists (comments) then announce it, so everyone can read them.

For the older prompts, all the information you need is on the 'boilerplate'. Just click on that for more information. You may also want to look at our Tech Support Post, where similar questions have been answered. We were all newbies once, and we're happy to help. :)

You're very welcome. We love it when new people come and play!

I just want to clarify something in case my muse gets naughty on me, there are no rating restrictions? No way to lock my response for younger readers? But a warning in the subject would be good, right?

I just don't want to inadvertantly get us in trouble with LJ....

The comm is currently set at "No adult content."

Some people add "Adult" or "NC-17" along with the prompt title, and that's totally up to the person posting. The comm has no "rules" about adult content. However, if any of the lists contain graphic sexual content, I go back and change the particular entry (which includes the comments) to "explicit," in an effort to comply with LJ rules.

So, no worries. :)

Thanks! As I started the prompt, it looks like its leading me away from the smut, but it's good information for next time. Or in case I get led back this time...

You're welcome.

Of course, you could always write more than one list for the same prompt.... ;-)

What are the mods thoughts about SGU prompts?
Allowed (*hopes so*)? If so, would there be a spoiler policy?

Good questions! I'll confer with the co-mods and get back to you on that.

Thanks for the question and your patience. Yes! We are going to accept SGU prompts. For now, we're not requiring spoiler warnings as the series is so new it should be a given that there will be spoilers in any response left. Prompt away!
